STARTED WITH CATTLE
RAISING IN 1993
The livestock sector was also conceived by the pioneer Gabriel Moacyr Teixeira that, since the beginning, had sight on excellency, innovation, animal welfare and sustainability. The marks of his work can still be seen by whoever visits SJ Group.
As soon as he organized the fences and grew the first pastures, Gabriel went after stablishing a partnership with Camp Cooley Ranch, an American company from Texas that at the time, was the largest USA’s Brangus breeder. His objective was to import American crosses embryos to disseminate the breed in the Brazilian cerrado. In that time, 3,500 embryos was imported in the Camp Cooley / SJ Ranch Join-Venture. Hence, the SJ Group quickly became a reference in beef cattle, introducing Brangus breed in Bahia. The adaptation of this breed to the Bahian climate was successful and earned several awards at national exhibitions.
